I have an ASUS EeePC 32 bit CPU N270 @ 1.60 GHz, 2 GB ram. As XP is not supported anymore, I need an OS to clean install. I would appreciate some advice on this.
Thanks, in advance.

Have you read Lubuntu 18.04 LTS End of Life (30-April-2021)
and in particular the 4th post of that thread, where I did discuss alternatives.
My opinion today hasn’t changed; my release will have been updated from what it was in May 2021 when I talked about my eepc using a n270 atom CPU, but my OS is still the same, just as it is on my various pentium M devices (mostly old IBM Thinkpads, but also an old Dell). The graphics hardware dictates now, just as it did then, which release I actually use.
32 bit, try Puppy or Tiny core…
Debian has 32 bit distros, or distros based on debian (e.g. Mx and AntiX), but, debian proper is moving away from 32bits or to a support role… or mumbling about it. All of the others are hanging on though.
There is a group of Arch Linux community users who continue maintaining the 32-bit version of Arch https://archlinux32.org/
