I’ve been trying to change the GRUB settings on my Lubuntu 20.04 LTS install without any luck. I’ve tried both Grub Custromizer and manually editing /etc/default/grub followed by update-grub but the changes never take effect. Specifically, I’m trying to change the default timeout of 30 seconds to 5 seconds. Any suggestions?
I found it was related to the “recordfail” timeout? I added GRUB_RECORDFAIL_TIMEOUT=“5” to /etc/default/grub and ran update-grub and now it times out after 5 seconds. Unsure why I had to do this rather than just GRUB_TIMEOUT but at least I’ve been able to resolve it.
