Trying to clone this driver to fix my heavy problem with wifi adapter

what is wrong in this action?

I am trying to change the wifi driver from actual to another better:
from GitHub - FreedomBen/rtl8188ce-linux-driver: This modified version of the RealTek WiFi driver fixes some issues with RealTek cards on Linux. I trying to clone it but fails.

I did not dive into the technicalities of your specific problem ‘‘git clone’’ problem, but it might have been a temporary server problem, as I can clone the repository normally.

However, you are trying to clone (and eventually install) a kernel module from a repo which is not actively maintained.

The last activity was in Nov. 2022, and before that only a limited number of activity can be found in 2021. Lack of activity is usually (with respect to the repository owner ‘FreedomBen’) a sign of abandonment, or worse, even hints to it being a futile fork.

Existing hardware does not change, of course, but the kernel did, and perhaps significantly considering WiFi. My advice is just to leave this repo unless you have very urgent reasons to use it.

Some background about installing software for your device is here: wireless - Rtl8188ce step by step guide - Ask Ubuntu.
