Screen resolution for vmware

Hi, I’m new here.
I just downloaded/installed Lubuntu on VMware. It’s really great: lightweight and fast. The only issue I’m having is that the screen doesn’t fit properly on VMware.
My desktop resolution is 1920 X 1080, and I set the resolution of Lubuntu to match. However, when it’s maximized, it doesn’t fit properly on the screen. There’s the Windows taskbar at the bottom, and the height of Lubuntu is too short. As a result, I see a scroll bar on the right side.
I tried looking for a better resolution, but couldn’t find one. It displays fine in full screen.
What could be causing this, and how can I fix it?

I don’t use VMware, so I can’t speak from experience, but a cursory search showed a lot of suggestions of using VMware Tools in order to resolve the resolution. Case in point, here’s something from VMware themselves suggesting as such.
