How do I fix this?
Please clarify your release; in title you say 24.04, but you tagged 22.04.
Neither Lubuntu 22.04 LTS or Lubuntu 24.04 LTS use the Wayland display server; as Redshift only supports Xorg (as both Lubuntu 22.04 LTS and Lubuntu 24.04 LTS support; so your error message does not appear to be a fresh install at all). It’d help if you clarify details.
Let’s try the following.
Open featherpad and write
[redshift]
location-provider=manual
[manual]
lat=x
lon=y
Instead of x insert the latitude and instead of y insert the longitude of your location, for instance lat=38.9 and lon=-77.0 for Washington D.C.
Save the file as redshift.conf in directory ~/.config and reboot.
It’s 24.04.1 and a fresh install. I picked the wrong tag and couldn’t edit my post after the fact.
That seemed to work. No more error and the coordinates I entered are now displayed in “Show Info”. I’ll see if adjustments take effect in the eveining. I’m assuming RedShift does not allow for adjustment of parameters and time?
Parameters can indeed be configured as described in this article.
Thanks, that’s awesome. If I want to autostart RS, should I select redshift or redshift-qt from /bin? Also do I need to tick “wait for system tray”?
It’s redshift-qt.
“Wait for system tray” is not necessary.
