I want upload a video but here not gives that option. Sorry (if i write badly) english from united kingdom.
Please be precise with details; you mention Ultimate? which means what exactly?
Back in 2010-2012 there were some releases of Lubuntu that used Ultimate and Lite in the name, but those releases are from more than a decade ago, and we don’t support those. There is no upgrade path from those releases (we last used the LXDE desktop back in 2018).
The oldest release we support is Lubuntu 22.04 LTS.
Lubuntu 24.04.1 LTS (Noble Numbat).
I was downloaded here https://lubuntu.me/downloads/ and my desktop: lxqt.
I’ve seen sddm
have issues before with specific hardware (eg. really old case here or here) where one easy fix was just to replace sddm
with another greeter. I recall switching to xdm
with one box as example; but I can’t recall the specifics as to why I chose that DM.
If your issue is related to graphics hardware as my prior paragraph & link(s) talk about, you should be able to operate SDDM correctly; you just don’t get to easily see what its doing on screen.
I’ve not experienced the issue recently; as I’ve not used the dell optiplex 990 I mention the link(s) I provided in QA in years, and only rarely occasionally use the other 755 box I saw reference to.
PLEASE NOTE: I don’t know if what I’ve provided here relates to your issue at all, other than flashing, or improperly displaying fields - I’ve not experienced issues with sddm
(and all issues I’ve experienced related to the graphics hardware being used). You could provide details of your graphics hardware in case it’s useful; in that link I requested sudo lshw -C video
be run for example.
Hi. I removed lubuntu from my laptop. Is not a hardware drivers problem, i have a integranted graphics by Intel i915 from Intel Atom processor. Is a sddm error, because i am using now Fedora lxqt and that coming with that error when i was no lockscreen, i replaced sddm with lightdm package And I’m using now lightdm with lightdm graphic gtk+ to configure easily, too i edited lightdm.conf to who my configuration Will save ever. Is a suggest for lubuntu distro use lightdm for next .iso AND not sddm, reading some artículos on internet people says who sddm hace trouble like who i haved.
This Is Solution from YouTube https://youtu.be/a_433R8IGks?si=klJorobNztmM1u4R
The error Is from sddm. I was removed lubuntu thinking who was distro error to install fedora, oh my Holly mom. Now, to be happilly,
: By lucky we have that ladyboy from YouTube video who teachs perfectly all about configure lightdm that was Solution. Suggest: compile from next .ISO lubuntu with lightdm AND His gtk+ configuration tool.
With all respect, it is quite vague what your previous and current situation is, and also what it has to do with Lubuntu.
Perhaps you can find answers for your troubles at some Fedora forum.
By the way, sddm is a simple greeter program (to enable you to log in and choose a particular desktop like LXQt, LXDE, KDE, etc). It has nothing particular in common with whatever window manager. A window manager is also loosely coupled to the chosen (or available) desktop. I prefer xfwm4 (from the xfce project) over Openbox as window manager (as is the Lubuntu default). But that is just my personal taste.
