Lubuntu-installation not booting

Hi, I was so happy that Lubuntu Live 14.04 runs on my old Acer-Laptop with the forcepae – forcepae option. However, after installation the system does not boot. I get: attempt to read or write outside of disk ‘hd0’ and then grub rescue. I am a bit disabled, so that I don’t understand this message and some solutions founded in the internet. Can anyone help me with simple words? I thimk, Lubuntu is the only understandable OS for me, so that I need this. The Laptop is too old for other OS. I tried out Antix and had the same problem after an istallation.

Sorry, we don’t support 14.04 anymore. We haven’t for a long time. So we can’t really help you with it. More so, it will not get security updates. Because of that, you leave yourself exposed to attack. The only reason I would ever suggest using this is if you never connect it to the Internet.

If you’re using PAE, that means you have 32 bit processor, which Lubuntu (and the Ubuntu project at large) has not supported for many years. There does not exist a currently supported release that will work with your computer because of that.

On the other hand, AntiX does support 32 bit processors on their most recent versions. Based on that, I think your best bet would be to try AntiX again, but contact them when you run into problems.
