Lubuntu 18.04 Dell Inspiron 910 w/ DW1500 wifi can't connect

Hi, I have installed Lubuntu 18.04.5 (32bit) on a Dell Inspiron 910 (aka mini 9).
It has a DW1500 (BCM4321) wifi card installed.
I have installed the Broadcom STA driver.
The system now can SEE networks but fails to actually connect.
Any ideas how to fix this?

Lubuntu 18.04 has reached its end of life, therefore it is no longer supported by Lubuntu.

You should switch to another distro which is still supporting 32 bit and LXDE. Debian may be a good starting point.
