How to install Lubuntu?

Hi, I have a pc with arch installed, but it runs slowly so I wanted to change it to a lighter Lubuntu. After i connected my pendrive it asked me what to do, I chose “Install/something Lubuntu”, then a blinking white underscore in the top left corner appeared and it stayed like that for 10-20 minutes. Then this screen appeared: IMG_20240915_121119.jpg - Google Drive
And after that there appeared an orange underscore in top left corner (IMG_20240915_121544.jpg - Google Drive) and it’s been like that for over an hour now. What can I do? How can I install?

Hi, what kind of PC do you have? Can you share either the hardware or the model you have maybe?

Also, if you try that again and once that blue screen comes up, can you hit the down arrow key on your keyboard? I’m curious if any other messages pop up.

Alternatively, when that other screen comes up with the underscore, can you press CTRL+ALT+F3 on your keyboard?

A lot of folks here tend to also recommend verifying the ISO file you downloaded before trying to install. Basically, you’re validating the checksum for the file you downloaded with the generated checksum (or hash) that is being reported on the download page for Lubuntu. If you’re comfortable with that, you can probably try that first unless you want to try again with the install.

The first Google drive image posted by the OP seems to imply that there was a problem configuring the sound card and the install timed out waiting for either a kernel module that was never loaded (or loaded and the hardware is not responding) or whatever. A few old-ish solutions include things like forcing module loads manually. But, I don’t know, we do need more info.

Yes, there appears something like TTY3 or TTY2 (if I press ctrl alt f2) etc. It asks me for a login and password but I never set those

Specs:
cpu: intel core 2 duo e4600
mobo: p5vd2-vm/s
ram: 1gb and 2gb ddr3 sticks
drive: hdd 7200rpm 3,5 inch

it’s a reeeeeaaaaallly old build, that I’m trying to recover

I just tried to see what the possible login is from a VM. I was able to login using lubuntu as the username and password is empty.

I think what eeyore pointed out is a good start to look at. If you’d like, please try the following commands after logging in: sudo dmesg | tail

That should display some text. I’m not too sure what exactly would need to be looked for specifically but if it’s just stalling entirely because of one driver, perhaps it would show up in the text you see. You can just upload another screenshot.

Another thing to maybe try (assuming it is something with hardware) is try unplugging any audio devices like speakers from your computer until the LIVE Lubuntu desktop finishes coming up.

Another possible avenue is using a different USB stick and try again to put the ISO on there but I’m again assuming that the ISO was verified. It’s up to you.

okay, I’ll try the command, thank you! And I did not have any audio devices connected. I burnt the iso to a usb using rufus

this is what I got after running the command

please helpppp, I don’t know what to do

decided to go with Windows 7 instead, works like a charm
