hi, so the discover just runs in the background, like that’s it, just runs in the background
im on lubuntu 24.04.1
hardware info:
hp prodesk 4740s
Intel i5-3210M (4) @ 3.100GHz
Intel 3rd Gen Core processor Graphics Controller
AMD ATI Radeon HD 7550M/7570M/7650M
8 gigs of ddr3 ram
wait no i mean probook
I don’t know, but I’d ensure the app isn’t running (I’d assume you’ll know that, but you could always use killall plasma-discover
anyway) and then start it from terminal.
The reason I’d start it from terminal is any messages appear on the terminal, instead of me needing to go looking in machine logs…
eg.
guiverc@d7050-next:~$ plasma-discover
libs QList("/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/qt6/plugins", "/usr/bin")

Terminated
Whilst I’m not running 24.04, I provided the start of what I see… then I stopped pasting, but included the final termination being when I ran ‘killall plasma-discover’ in another terminal.
I’d hope some clues as to problems may appear in your listing; this being an easy first step anyway.
WELP… typing “plasma-discover” just worked for some reason
wait, now it doesn’t work anymore…
oh yea heres what i get when i did it again:
org.kde.plasma.libdiscover: Couldn't find the backend: "kns-backend" among ("kns-backend", "packagekit-backend", "snap-backend", "fwupd-backend")
fetch ratings! false
adding empty sources model QStandardItemModel(0x5e6003c289a0)
interesting, it works now???
welp found out that, when i open plasma discover once, it won’t work twice… now i have to wait to use it again!! yay i have waiting!! [says the one that ain’t wanna wait]
