Autostart in Lubuntu 20.04 LTS

Autostarting in the desktop session is configured in a different way in LXQt, that is used by Lubuntu 20.04 LTS compared to LXDE, that is used in the previous LTS version, Lubuntu 18.04 LTS.

I described how to add an autostarted command when answering a question at AskUbuntu, and it might be worthwhile to show the essence of if here too.

Link: I suggest that you use the ‘autostart’ feature of LXQt

  • From the Main Menu
    • select Settings
      • select LXQt Configuration Center
  • select Session Settings
    • select Autostart
      • scroll down to and high-light ‘LXQT Autostart’
  • click the Add button and add the action that you want.

This way you will create a desktop file in the directory

~/.config/autostart
