You didn’t do anything “wrong”. What your system probably lacks is a driver for your WiFi card.
You can look for additional drivers and see if maybe it can be found and installed.
From the Lubuntu manual:
https://manual.lubuntu.me/stable/4/4.3/software_sources.html?highlight=drivers#proprietary-drivers
I did some more Googling and apparently the existing driver under Linux for this device can be buggy. There is a Github resource that seems to include a method for getting the driver to operate normally but it is a long read. I can’t look at it all but it might be worth looking into.
Thank you for your reply; I’m new to linux distros & I’m communicating with you on an ASUS netbook running 20.04.1, which I installed to replace Win10 without any problems. The wireless.info.txt file that I generated on my SurfaceGo appears to show that the hardware & drivers are there so why would I need to install a new driver? Thank you.
Does that answer your question?
Perhaps sharing the information you have might be helpful to those of us not in front of your keyboard.
OK, now I think I understand; are you saying that the driver installed on my SurfaceGo is buggy? Thank you.
The word used was “apparently.” Again, we don’t have any information to go on, so we can’t be of much help.
Can I provide the wireless.info.txt file for your review? If you don’t think that would help, I’ll take Random_Guy’s advice & download a new driver. Thank you.
It certainly would make a lot of sense to copy and paste that information so we have a little more to work with.
What is the best way to post that file to you? It’s pretty long.
You can also make it not overwhelm the screen by doing this:
[details="wireless.info.txt file"]
This is where you paste your text
[/details]
Which results in:
wireless.info.txt file
This is where you paste your text
And then you can click on the little arrow and it will open up.
Sounds like something I have to do in terminal?
Copying and pasting should not require the terminal.
The “code” I showed above is markup language that Discourse (the forum software we’re using here) understands.
wireless.info.txt file

Thank you.
That dmesg
info would be helpful, actually.
What do you mean by dmesg info? My reply began with your suggestion that would not overwhelm the screen, then pasted the file. I’m new at this. Thank you.
The tail end of your paste has:
##### dmesg #############################
Error executing command as another user: Not authorized
This incident has been reported.
So we need the results of dmesg
or sudo dmesg
if that fails for some reason.
I think this error occurred while I was learning how to use this; I created another file after turning off unsecured boot in the uefi w/o that error. Can I send this file to you?
Just copy and paste that one little part.

Also, do you have any other networking available, such as Ethernet card?
