New Lubuntu 22.10 (Kinetic Kudu) freeze randomly

I have been testing before installing in a NOT UEFI mode and secure boot disabled.

System freeze and reboot or simply freeze. It just happend in a minute or when I open firefox(sometimes inmediantly or sometimes I can navigate a bit).

Did the media validation successfully occur?

If it’s not stable enough on one system to complete (or I can scan the logs to confirm it completed), I usually boot the media on another system and test it there (or usually on two other boxes; one a rather similar box & one very different, but that’s me as its quick & easy compared to alternatives).

To do this, I’d boot & let it sit awhile (so check completes) and then look at

journalctl |grep finished

and look for the line with something like

mmm dd hh:mm:ss lubuntu casper-md5check[9999]: Check finished: no errors found

ps: if I was impatient; I’d also probably scan using |grep md5check as if it hasn’t finished, I actually get some results that provide a clue on how far it’s got, but if the line isn’t there; you have your cause & need to go back to re-verify the ISO, then write to media & perform checks again.

Validation media is ok.

I am triying install on my hd but is imposible, always freeze and reboot.

I only can access to Lubuntu live system in graphic compatibility mode, if I try in normal mode not work.

The proccess keep until language select or freeze when it write data in partition.

I dont know what happend.

That would have been good to know in the first post. :sweat_smile:

If this is happening even with the live system, I’m not sure what it could be. I would have suggested checking bios version for the pc or graphics drivers causing problems but if it’s truly random, it might be a hardware problem.

Did you have Linux installed previously? Has this ever happened before or is it only for Lubuntu?

I’ve been trying solutions read by all the linux forums for days, but nothing works.

It is not a hardware problem, today I have updated the BIOS to the latest version, everything still does not work.
I’ve tried several more distributions and they all crash.

I come to the conclusion that it is the new Kernel. In the previous version of Lubuntu (22.04 ) no error happens to me.

I’m inclined to suspect the same thing knowing that you’ve tested this before. I don’t know what distros you’ve tried so I can’t really back that up with anything. It could be a regression of sorts.
