"Move here" and "selecting multiple files" issue Lubuntu 20.04.1LTS

Hi, thanks in advance for taking the time to read this.
This is an issue I was experiencing on lubuntu 19.04, and carried on after upgrading to Lubuntu 20.04.1LTS. My PCman version is PCManFm-Qt 0.14.1
I’d like to add that it might not be an issue at all, and be a “just the way it is” scenario, but it annoys me enough that I’m considering trying a different environment.

When I try to select multiple files, both within a folder and on the desktop, some of them easily “unselect”, either because my mouse stays on top of them for a second, or what seems to be “randomly”.

Also (I consider it part of the same issue) I can not “move here” a file from the desktop to a folder on the desktop, I need to open the folder and drag the file to a blank space of the open window. Both things slow me down immensely, make the experience frustrating.

Things I tried:
-Navigating forums for LXQT, ubuntu, lubuntu, both in english and spanish
-exploring all settings on LXQT settings
-Making sure all folders and files involed are “view and modify”

Would anyone be able to tell me if this is just the way this desktop environment works, or if I can do anything to configurate it differently?

I’m happy to provide lshw , lscpu , lsusb , and lspci if that helps

[EDIT] I was thinking… Is this because I could have done any weird changes on the configuration on lubuntu 19 that carried on to the lubuntu update to 20.04?
-Therefore, would it make sense to do a fresh install of lubuntu 20.04 (not looking forward)
-I was also considering updating lxqt to 0.15 on lubuntu 20.04.1. Would that make sense?
-Anyways, am I even on the right track when thinking that the behavior of my pacmanfm, or openbox, is weird?

Thanks again

pol

Lubuntu 20.04 uses pcmanfm-qt which is a different program to pcmanfm. It maybe you’ve just made a typo.

It’s not a Lubuntu supported program except for Lubuntu 18.04 LTS, as all later releases of Lubuntu are LXQt which you mention, no longer using LXDE or LXDE apps.

Indeed.
I did not realize when I found a command to update pcmanfm.

My version is PCManFM-Qt 0.14.1

Now, do any users have issues trying to drag and drop files into a folder on the desktop?

I fixed it by performing a fresh install of xubuntu. It did work great right away. Lubuntu and me have been together for 8 years but, either because of my lack of skill or carelessness, or maybe my particular laptop… there would be always a number of ‘bugs’ no matter what release… Hope xfce is good to me!
