Trying to run the screen also on a TV by HDMI. TV Screen picks up the basic Lubuntu desktop displays but without icons, and the touchpad pointer is identified. That is all.

thank you. ARandR is pre-installed and I had the settings in place but I was not aware that I needed to do a Control-Enter which was identified in the article. Strange, though, when the screen on the TV was working with the HDMI connection it caused issues on the laptop display. Had to shut down and re-start for the screen to come back with all icons, which had disappeared.
