Autoexec.bat from DOS

Is there a file like DOS/Windows Autoexec.bat file for Lubuntu?

I mean a bat (script) file that runs everytime on bootup?

I want to add a couple of lines or a call to run my little startup script.

There are several ways to run a shellscript automatically in Lubuntu. Is this something that you want globally (for the whole system) or only for one particular user or for a particular bash session (terminal window)?

Please tell us what you want to do automatically, what commands to add and what you want to achieve with it. When we know, we can suggest how to do it.
